Description: This layer is intended only for purposes under the State Planning Policy 2017 (SPP) in determining Matters of State Environmental Significance (MSES). Local refinement is required to apply the correct definition of MSES. For MSES that is relevant for this layer, The SPP defines as the following natural values and areas :(v) Category A, B, C or R areas on the regulated vegetation management map that are located within a defined distance* from the defining banks of a relevant watercourse identified on the vegetation management watercourse and drainage feature map.*Note: Defined distance - see State Development Assessment Provisions, Code 16: Native vegetation clearing unless the area is a category R area. If the area is a category R area, the 50m regrowth watercourse and drainage feature area as defined by the Vegetation Management Act 1999 applies. This layer shows the vegetation management watercourse and drainage feature map of the Vegetation Management Act 1999 produced by the Department of Resources. It combines the following:vegetation management 1:100,000-1:250,000 watercourse and drainage feature map vegetation management 1: 25,0000 watercourse and drainage feature mapUnder the Vegetation Management Act 1999 a:watercourse has the meaning given by the Water Act 2000, section 5, but a reference to a watercourse in this Act includes a reference to anywhere that is downstream of the downstream limit of the watercourse. drainage feature has the meaning given by the Water Act 2000, schedule 4.See MSES Methodology Appendix B. A local application of this MSES value should be applied.

Display Field: mses_slc_sbh
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: This dataset depicts areas of remnant or regrowth vegetation in which a fauna species that is listed as a Special Least Concern taxa under the Nature Conservation Act 1992 (NCA) is known, or considered likely to occur. This dataset was created specifically for the purpose of facilitating the update to relevant Matters of State Environment Significance Spatial Layers.
Description: The Phascolarctos cinereus (Koala) Habitat Suitability Model (HSM) provides the delineation of core habitat for the species and includes a representation of known and potential habitat. Core habitat is designated using rules defined by experts and through a modelling process. Habitat suitability models (HSM) may be used to inform planning decisions, Biodiversity Planning Assessments (BPAs), Aquatic Conservation Assessments (ACAs) and Essential Habitat under the Vegetation Management Act 1999. This dataset is an exact replica of the mapping used to map South East Queensland (SEQ) koala habitat areas under the Nature Conservation (Koala) Conservation Plan 2017. It used for the purpose of MSES. All enquiries should be directed to the custodian of the koala habitat area map. MSES mapping is viewable to an allotment scale from the SPP Interactive Mapping System (IMS), available at planning.dsdmip.qld.gov.au. The mapping data can be obtained for use in a geographic information system (GIS) from the Queensland Spatial Catalogue (QSpatial) at http://qspatial.information.qld.gov.au. A MSES mapping methodology can also be located on the EHP website at https://www.ehp.qld.gov.au/management/planning-guidelines/method-mapping-mses.html.
Description: Locally refined koala habitat areas (LRKHA) cover areas of koala habitat that are regulated by local government but are not included in the Government’s koala habitat areas. All SEQ local governments provided details of LRKHA to offer continuous regulatory protection for locally identified koala habitat for a 2-year period.
Description: The mapping aims to:- Support identification of key threatened species habitat that is to be considered as Matters of State Environmental Significance (MSES)under the State Planning Policy 2017 (SPP)- Support plan making agencies considering adopting the Sea Turtle Sensitive Area voluntary model code by Department of State Development Infrastructure and Planning (DSDMIP).- Assist with the interpretation of the draft National Light Pollution Guidelines for Wildlife released by the Australian Government’s Department of Agriculture Water and the Environment (https://www.environment.gov.au/biodiversity/migratory-species/draft-national-light-pollution-guidelines).- Assist asset managers and developers wishing to adopt best practice approaches when installing new lighting near turtle nesting areas. The mapping is a line representing underlying sea turtle nesting areas. The inclusion of rocky coastlines and headlands is deliberate to reflect how artificial light can influence not only the behaviour of hatchlings on the beach but also the wayfinding of both adult turtles and hatchlings in coastal waters around nesting beaches.Local refinement is required to determine “turtle sensitive areas” under the Sea Turtle Sensitive Area voluntary model code. Further information on sea turtle nesting areas can be found through:- Sea Turtle Nesting Areas mapping available on QGlobe and through QSpatial (ENVEP.QLD_SEA_TURTLE_NESTING_AREAS)- Turtle Nesting Distribution Abundance and Migration Atlas online (https://apps.information.qld.gov.au/TurtleDistribution/)
