The watercourse identification map (WIM) series shows the known extent of geographic features that are managed under the Water Act 2000 section 5AA: watercourses, drainage features, downstream limits, lakes, springs.
A lake is represented in the watercourse identification map by a point that is placed near the centre of the lake. If the lake covers multiple land parcels, each parcel will show a lake point.
A lake means -
(a) if a feature is identified on the watercourse identification map as a lake - means the feature identified on the map; or
(b) otherwise, includes -
(i) a lagoon, swamp or other natural collection of water, whether permanent or intermittent; and
(ii) the bed and banks and any other element confining or containing the water.
