Parent Layer: Historic Flood Events

Name: 2017 Floodline Fitzroy River

Display Field: location

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: This dataset represents the maximum inundation of the April 2017 flood in the Connors, Fitzroy, Issac and Mackenzie Rivers following the heavy deluge of rain from ex-Cyclone Debbie. This dataset was digitised from 3 metre satellite imagery taken near the height of the flood. The completeness of the data is dependent upon image quality and the ability to identify feature detail e.g. • The floodwater had receded at the time of image capture but the landscape was still heavily inundated from later rainfall. • Some areas within the mosaic were not captured due to the flight paths of the satellite not overlapping or adjoining. (in these areas the flood line was maintained by holding the approximate contour height) • The mosaic can have uneven colour balance. This dataset was captured by Spatial Information Officers using ESRI ArcGIS software. Capture scale is 1:12 500, recommended scale for use of data is 1:25 000 or greater. Note: This data has not been ground verified.
