Native to Africa and Madagascar, thatch grass is naturalised in Queensland and New South Wales. It is primarily a weed of roadsides, although is beginning to invade and dominate native pastures, grasslands and open woodland areas. It increases the fuel load in these areas and increases fire frequency and intensity. |
