Name: Critical habitat or major interest - Koala priority area
Display Field: kpa
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: Spatial prioritisation using the Koala Habitat Suitability Model developed by the Department of Environment and Science and a set of threats, constraints, opportunities and resilience factors known to influence the viability of koalas and their habitat was used by the Koala Policy and Oversight (KPO) team to develop Koala Priority Areas (KPAs). These large contiguous areas in South East Queensland will be targeted by policy developed for the protection and restoration of koala habitat in the region.
Name: Critical habitat or major interest - Core koala habitat area
Display Field: sci_name
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: The Phascolarctos cinereus (Koala) Habitat Suitability Model (HSM) provides the delineation of core habitat for the species and includes a representation of known and potential habitat. Core habitat is designated using rules defined by experts and through a modelling process. Habitat suitability models (HSM) may be used to inform planning decisions, Biodiversity Planning Assessments (BPAs), Aquatic Conservation Assessments (ACAs) and Essential Habitat under the Vegetation Management Act 1999.
Name: Critical habitat or major interest - Locally refined koala habitat area
Display Field: lga_name
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: Locally refined koala habitat areas (LRKHA) cover areas of koala habitat that are regulated by local government but are not included in the Government’s koala habitat areas. All SEQ local governments provided details of LRKHA to offer continuous regulatory protection for locally identified koala habitat for a 2-year period.
Description: There are currently twenty (20) Australian properties inscribed on the World Heritage List.A single Australian World Heritage Areas database has been created by combining data which was historically stored as a separate data for each property. World Heritage Area buffer zones are also included in this dataset where they exist for some properties and are distinguished from the Declared Property boundary in the data. Four properties (Kakadu National Park, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Willandra Lakes Region and the Tasmanian Wilderness) are inscribed for both natural and cultural criteria. The Great Barrier Reef, the Tasmanian Wilderness, the Wet Tropics of Queensland and Shark Bay meet all four World Heritage criteria for natural heritage see (http://whc.unesco.org/en/criteria or http://www.environment.gov.au/heritage/about/world/world-heritage-criteria).16 properties are listed under the World Heritage criteria for natural heritage: the Australian Fossil Mammal Sites (Naracoorte/Riversleigh), Lord Howe Island Group, Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, Fraser Island, Macquarie Island, Heard and McDonald Islands, the Greater Blue Mountains Area and Purnululu National Park, Shark Bay and the Ningaloo Coast.8 properties are inscribed for cultural values: Kakadu National Park, Tasmanian Wilderness, Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park, Willandra Lakes Region, Australian Convict Sites, Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens, Sydney Opera House and the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape.4 properties are considered serial listing where the properties comprise more than one distinct geographical areas. There are 11 sites that constitute the Australian Convict Sites. The Australian Fossil Mammal Sites (Naracoorte/Riversleigh), Gondwana Rainforests of Australia comprise multiple parts and the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape.

Description: Special Management Areas (SMA) are areas that cover parts of the protected areas of Queensland that have additional constraints on their use. In many places the boundaries of the SMAs are aligned with the Digital Cadastre Database (DCDB) land parcel while in other locations the boundaries of the SMAs follow the lines of topographic features such as streams, forestry tracks and ridges.
Description: The 72 Fish Habitat Areas in this dataset are declared under Section 120 - Fisheries Act 1994 and Schedule 3 of Queensland Fisheries Regulations 2008, effective 21 March2024. This is a composite of ALL Fish Habitat Area boundary areas gazetted/re-gazetted between 1998-2024. (The 'OUTER BOUNDARY' conforms where possible to base data, prepared from the Digital Cadastral Data Base (DCDB) produced by the Department of Resources (DOR), and representative of Real Property and Crown Land boundaries. For EXCLUSIONS or INCLUSIONS within these FHA areas - refer to referenced gazettals. Latest Gazettal - May2024. Note: This dataset has had limited 'OUTER BOUNDARY' line validation with the current cadastre which may have changed in the last 2 years. The indicative boundaries have been adjusted in accordance with DCDB shifts that are continuously refined by ground survey and survey control. Cadastre Currency is varying for the 72 areas and described in the attribute data (April 2015-May 2024). To facilitate easy reference to plans use the hyperlink field now included within the attribute details. See Note in Use Limitations.
Description: This dataset provides mapping of wetlands as at 2019 extent at 1:100,000 scale across Queensland. Coastal areas may be mapped at 1:50,000 scale and Brisbane City and areas covered by a Property Map of Assessable Vegetation (PMAV) may be mapped at 1:25,000 scale.

Description: Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESAs) are used to support environmental regulation in Queensland. Category A and B ESAs are defined under the Environmental Protection Regulation 2019. Category C ESAs are defined for some standard Environmentally Relevant Activities (ERAs) and model conditions documents available from the Business Queensland website. This dataset has been produced to support the spatial representation of regrowth regional ecosystems, as referenced by Category B and Category C ESAs. Appropriate filters need to be applied according to the biodiversity status referenced in the ESA. This dataset should be used in conjunction with the "Biodiversity status of remnant regional ecosystems" dataset provided by the Queensland Herbarium to indicate the full coverage of regional ecosystems.
