This data set displays the locations and orientations of selected primary structures that have been measured during field studies. Primary structures are features of rocks that form at or shortly after the time of formation of the rock itself. In this data set, only planar features are shown, such as bedding in sedimentary and volcaniclastic rocks and primary igneous structures such as flow banding in lava, eutaxitic foliation in ignimbrite and alignment of minerals by platy flow or compositional layering in plutonic rocks.
