Abstract:
This dataset displays major infrastructure used in the delivery of defence, correctional services, education, health, power generation, refining, sugar mills, water and sewage treatment and other major industries within the State of Queensland
-
Purpose: This Queensland wide dataset provides generalised information for topographical mapping purposes.
To provide digital data displaying the location of major infrastructure used in the delivery of defence, correctional services, education, health, power generation, refining, sugar mills, water and sewage treatment and other major industries. The primary objective of this dataset is to provide a cartographic portrayal of Queensland's constructed features and should be interpreted and utilised correctly. It is suitable for use in land administration, emergency management, topographic mapping and in the production of web based mapping applications.

Lineage statement: Initially for whole of state data capture, the location, ie address of the features, was sourced from a listing compiled from the Education Queensland, Queensland Health and Queensland Mines and Energy websites. This address was used to identify the lot/plans in the Digital Cadastral Database (DCDB) that made up the extent of the education facility. The features were validated against departmental imagery (orthophotography and satellite) where available, and modified where the spatial accuracy of the DCDB was outside 25K topographic data specifications. Subsequently a list of educational facilities with a centroid coordinate value of each individual feature was supplied by Education Queensland. From this list the existing data was validated for accuracy and updated. Lists were also obtained from Queensland Health and numerous public and private website to upgrade and enhance the dataset. This dataset is GDA2020 Compliant. The source data, and therefore the captured features, were captured as GDA94 (horizontal only). This data has been projected to GDA2020 by using ArcGIS Pro geoprocessing tool Project geoprocessing. Using geographic transformation parameters ‘GDA94 to GDA2020 NTv2 3 Conformal’.
The data has also been processed to remove any redundant vertices by using ArcGIS Pro’s Simplify Polygon geoprocessing tool. Retain critical points (Douglas-Peucker) method was used for the Simplification Algorithm and a Simplification tolerance of 0.25m. The data was further processed using an ESRI validation in a Repair Geometry geoprocessing tool and deleting any features with Null geometry.

Data quality report - Absolute external positional accuracy:
-
-
Measure description: Data has been collected and checked from many sources which have their own horizontal accuracy. The location source attributes are linked to each feature. The data therefore has a range of positional accuracies depending on the source of the feature. In the case of orthophotos and satellite imagery the accuracy is within +/- 5 metres of actual position, whereas features compiled from DCDB data is related to the accuracy of the DCDB at the time of capture, and the accuracy of features captured from existing printed topographic maps is within +/- 12.5 metres of actual position. In cases where data has been field verified the accuracy will be sub-metre. While the data can be used for a range of purposes, in this initial stage the data has been captured to cater for 1:25 000 map production and generally the expected average horizontal accuracy is within +/- 12.5 metres of true position.
