Abstract:
This dataset displays large tracks of land set aside for recreational purposes (e.g., botanic gardens, golf courses, racecourses)
-
Purpose: This Queensland wide dataset provides generalised information for topographical mapping purposes.
To provide digital data displaying large tracks of land set aside for recreational purposes (e.g., botanic gardens, golf courses, racecourses) within the State of Queensland. The primary objective of this dataset is to provide a cartographic portrayal of Queensland's constructed features and should be interpreted and utilised correctly. It is suitable for use in land administration, emergency management, topographic mapping and in the production of web based mapping applications.

Attributes: FEATURE_TYPE (Feature Type) - Unique feature type that identifies the type of feature. (options: Aquatic Centre, Botanic Gardens, Civic Square, Golf Course, Park, Racecourse, Rifle Range, Show Ground, Sporting Complex, Theme Park, Zoo, Other Recreational Area) NAME (Name) - The name of the feature (if available)
ALTERNATE_NAME (Alternate Name) - An alternate name of the feature if available from the Queensland Place Names Database, otherwise left blank
QLD_PNDB_ID (QLD_PNDB_ID) - Queensland Place Names Database unique identifier
ATTRIBUTE_SOURCE (Attribute Source) - The source imagery, map, or data used for attributing the feature. If the feature is named, the attribution would be the source information that the name (if available) was obtained from. If the feature is not named, the attribution is the source information which defines what the feature is e.g., zoo
ATTRIBUTE_DATE (Attribute Date) - Date of the source imagery, map, or data used for attributing the feature. ADDITIONAL NAMES (Additional Names) - Other names of the feature. Maybe commonly known by other names or have different spelling. Multiple names can be shown, separated by a comma.

FEATURE_SOURCE (Feature Source) - The source imagery, map, or data that the spatial location and shape of the of the feature was obtained from.
FEATURE_DATE (Feature Date) - Date of the source imagery, map, or data that the spatial location and shape of the feature was obtained from.
PFI (PFI) - A Persistent Feature Identifier (PFI) is generated once for each feature at the point of creation. The value of the PFI will stay with the feature through all changes to the feature (both spatial and non-spatial) until the feature is retired.
UFI (UFI) - A Unique Feature Identifier (UFI) is generated once for each new feature at the point of creation (at this point the PFI and UFI will be the same). The value of the UFI will stay with the feature through all changes to the feature (both spatial and non-spatial) unless the feature is split into multiple other parts. If the feature is split, the separate parts will retain the original PFI but new UFI’s will be generated for the split parts.
CREATED_DATE (Created Date) - The date the feature was originally captured and first loaded to the database
LAST_EDITED_DATE (Last Edited Date) - Date of the last editing or revision to the feature
DIMENSION_M2 (Dimension (m²)) - The area of the feature measured in square metres (Albers projection)
UPPER_SCALE (Upper Scale) - The upper scale for which the feature should be considered suitable TEXT_NOTE (Text Note) - For mapping purposes. Additional annotation that can be shown on a map.
ADD_INFORMATION (Additional Information) - A comment field (additional information)
This dataset is stored in an ESRI Geodatabase. Some columns names may be shortened if downloaded in the ESRI shape format.

Lineage statement: Initially for whole of state data capture, the location of the features was sourced from existing Department of Resources topographic maps, regional maps and photogrammetric data. The features were validated against Department of Resources imagery (orthophotos and satellite) where available and modified where necessary.
The location and names of parks were extracted from the Queensland Digital Cadastral Database (DCDB). The data had been loaded into the DCDB from a "Park and Canal Name Attribute Project" commenced in September 1999 for data aquisition for PSMA.
For golf courses, the address of the feature was sourced from the Queensland Golf Union Website. The address was then used to identify the Lot/Plan description in the DCDB that formed the extent of the feature. The features were validated against Department of Resources imagery (orthophotos and satellite) where available, and modified where the spatial accuracy of the DCDB was outside 25k topographic data specifications.
For rifle ranges, the address of the feature was sourced from the Queensland Rifle Association Website. The address was then used to identify the Lot/Plan description in the DCDB that formed the extent of the feature. The features were validated against Department of Resources imagery (orthophotos and satellite) where available, and modified where the spatial accuracy of the DCDB was outside 25k topographic data specifications.
For racecources, the address of the feature was sourced from the Queensland Racing Website. The address was then used to identify the Lot/Plan description in the DCDB that formed the extent of the feature. The features were validated against Department of Resources imagery (orthophotos and satellite) where available, and modified where the spatial accuracy of the DCDB was outside 25k topographic data specifications.
Features for ongoing data capture and updating of 25K topographic map projects are sourced from Local Governmnet Websites and EPA Park maps and their location is digitised from Department of Resources imagery (orthophotos and satellite).
Additional data is supplied by Geoscience Australia as part of their 25K large scale data capture and commitment to the National Topographic Information Coordination Initiative (NTICI). In most cases these features have been identified through fieldwork by Geoscience Australia staff.
This dataset is GDA2020 Compliant. The source data, and therefore the captured features, were captured as GDA94 (horizontal only). This data has been projected to GDA2020 by using ArcGIS Pro geoprocessing tool Project geoprocessing. Using geographic transformation parameters ‘GDA94 to GDA2020 NTv2 3 Conformal’.
The data has also been processed to remove any redundant vertices by using ArcGIS Pro’s Simplify Polygon geoprocessing tool. Retain critical points (Douglas-Peucker) method was used for the Simplification Algorithm and a Simplification tolerance of 0.25m. The data was further processed using an ESRI validation in a Repair Geometry geoprocessing tool and deleting any features with Null geometry.

Data quality report - Absolute external positional accuracy:
-
-
Measure description: Data has been collected and checked from many sources which have their own horizontal accuracy. The location source attributes are linked to each feature. The data therefore has a range of positional accuracies depending on the source of the feature.
- Orthophotos and satellite imagery - +/- 5 metres
- DCDB - related to the accuracy of the DCDB at the time of capture
- Topographic mapping - +/- 12.5 metres. While the data can be used for a range of purposes, in this initial stage the data has been captured to cater for 1:25 000 map production and generally the expected average horizontal accuracy is within +/- 12.5 metres of true position.
