This dataset displays the line between and inland waterbody and the land.
This Queensland wide dataset provides generalised information for topographical mapping purposes.
To provide a line depicting the line between an inland waterbody and the land. The primary objective of this dataset is to provide a cartographic portrayal of Queensland's natural features and should be interpreted and utilised correctly. It is to assist in the presentation of hydrographic data used in mapping products and in web based mapping applications.

This feature class has been derived from the Waterbody Areas feature class.
Feature Types:
SHORELINE – A line surrounding an inland waterbody
SHORELINE JUNCTION - The common line between two adjoining waterbodies
Attributes: FEATURE_TYPE (Feature Type) - Unique feature type that identifies the type of feature. (options: Shoreline, Shoreline Junction)
ATTRIBUTE_SOURCE (Attribute Source) - The source imagery, map, or data used to define what the feature is e.g., shoreline
ATTRIBUTE_DATE (Attribute Date) - Date of the source imagery, map, or data used for attributing the feature
FEATURE_SOURCE (Feature Source) - Features within this dataset align to and are coincident with the waterbody features within the Waterbodies feature class. FEATURE_DATE (Feature Date) - Date of the feature source information that the location of the feature was obtained from.
PERENNIALITY (Perenniality) - An indicator of the temporal continuity of the presence of water (options: Ephemeral, Intermittent, Near Permanent, Perennial, Unknown, Not Applicable)
HIERARCHY (Hierarchy) - An attribute defining the Importance of a hydrographic feature in relation to the entire hydrographic network. (options: Minor, Major, Not Applicable)
DRAINAGE_BASIN (Drainage Basin) - The name of the drainage basin the feature is in.
PFI (PFI) - A Persistent Feature Identifier (PFI) is generated once for each feature at the point of creation. The value of the PFI will stay with the feature through all changes to the feature (both spatial and non-spatial) until the feature is retired.
UFI (UFI) - A Unique Feature Identifier (UFI) is generated once for each new feature at the point of creation (at this point the PFI and UFI will be the same). The value of the UFI will stay with the feature through all changes to the feature (both spatial and non-spatial) unless the feature is split into multiple other parts. If the feature is split, the separate parts will retain the original PFI but new UFI’s will be generated for the split parts.
CREATED_DATE (Created Date) - The date the feature was originally captured and first loaded to the database
LAST_EDITED_DATE (Last Edited Date) - Date of the last editing or revision to the feature
JUNCTION_CODE (Junction Code) - A value assigned to junction features at the intersection of two waterbodies. Used in the creation of multi-scale Shoreline feature classes
DIMENSION_M (Dimension m²) - The length of the feature measured in metres (Albers projection)
UPPER_SCALE (Upper Scale) - The upper scale for which the feature should be considered suitable TEXT_NOTE (Text Note) - For mapping purposes. Additional annotation that can be shown on a map.
ADD_INFORMATION (Additional Informmation) - A comment field (additional information)
This dataset is stored in an ESRI Geodatabase. Some columns names may be shortened if downloaded in the ESRI shape format.

Data has been collected and checked from many sources which have their own horizontal accuracy. The location source attributes are linked to each feature. The data therefore has a range of positional accuracies depending on the source of the feature.

The Shoreline feature class is a polyline feature class derived from the Waterbody Areas feature class.
The Waterbody Area polygon features are converted to polylines in the new feature class and labelled "Shoreline".
They retain the Perenniality, Heirachy, Feature Reliabilty and Upperscale of the associated hydro area feature.
Where two Shoreline features coincide (e.g. where two rivers meet), the intesecting lines are labelled "Shoreline Junction".
These Shoreline Junction features have been allocated a "Junction_Code".
The Junction_Code is associated with the Upperscale value as shown below with both intersecting features having the same code.
The code being the highest of the two.
For features with an:
Upperscale = 10000000 ; Junction_Code = 7
Upperscale = 5000000 ; Junction_Code = 6
Upperscale = 2500000 ; Junction_Code = 5
Upperscale = 1000000 ; Junction_Code = 4
Upperscale = 250000 ; Junction_Code = 3
Upperscale = 100000 ; Junction_Code = 2
Up[perscale = 25000 ; Junction_Code = 1
e.g. where a 1:5000000 watercourse and a 1:250000 watercouse intersect, both features will have a Junction_Code of 6, the code for a 1:5000000 feature.
e.g. where a 1:2500000 watercourse and a 1:100000 watercourse intersect, both features will have a Junction_Code of 5, the code of a 1:2500000 feature.
The codes are only used for deriving multi-scale Shoreline features classes for mapping purposes.
No Shoreline or Shoreline_Junction features cross the Coastline.
This dataset is GDA2020 Compliant. The source data, and therefore the captured features, were captured as GDA94 (horizontal only). This data has been projected to GDA2020 by using ArcGIS Pro geoprocessing tool Project geoprocessing. Using geographic transformation parameters ‘GDA94 to GDA2020 NTv2 3 Conformal’.
The data has also been processed to remove any redundant vertices by using ArcGIS Pro’s Simplify Line geoprocessing tool. Retain critical points (Douglas-Peucker) method was used for the Simplification Algorithm and a Simplification tolerance of 0.25m. The data was further processed using an ESRI validation in a Repair Geometry geoprocessing tool and deleting any features with Null geometry.
