<suppInfo>This layer is created by using aerial orthophotos and satellite imagery to identify the presence or absence of active gully and channel erosion within 100 x 100m grid cells. No inference is made of the size of the gully or channel erosion within each cell, i.e. the erosion could encompasses the whole area or just a small part of the cell. Gully and associated channel erosion is considered to be an obvious erosion feature, visible in aerial or satellite imagery, and characterised by the following:
• a visible headcut, scarp front, channel or network of channels with lateral incisions in the land surface that are at least 1m wide at the narrowest point,
• a depth exceeding 0.3m, where possible to determine,
• bare ground is observed at the time of image capture.
The extent of the gully presence layer is constrained by the Watercourse lines - Queensland layer with is used to approximate the extent of the Paddock to Reef catchment models stream network. Drainage lines with a Stream Order greater than 2 approximates the stream network of Paddock to Reef Catchment models and therefore any erosion within these drainage lines are excluded from this layer with the exception of gullies that radiate out from these streams. Drainage lines with a Stream Order equal to or less than 2 that have active gully and channel erosion within them are mapped as part of this process. Any cells that contain gully or channel erosion outside the Watercourse lines - Queensland layer will also be mapped.</suppInfo>
