The electric ant biosecurity zone dataset is the spatial representation of the electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02) established under the Biosecurity Act 2014. The electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02) revokes and replaces all previous versions of the electric ant biosecurity zone in Queensland (last establishment was at 1 July 2016). The linear boundary of the electric ant biosecurity zone was defined using the Locality Boundaries - Queensland dataset, published by the State of Queensland (Department of Resources).

The electric ant biosecurity zone dataset was first published on 1 July 2016 to coincide with the effective date for the Biosecurity Act 2014. The electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02) was published on 15 June 2018. The electric ant biosecurity zone is aligned to the 'Localities boundaries - Queensland' dataset (essentially suburb boundaries), and is sourced from the Cadastral data – Queensland series dataset supplied under licence by the Queensland Department of Resources. It is recognised that the Localities dataset is regularly updated; and in the event that a suburb boundary has been realigned, split or otherwise changed, and it is unclear if a property is within the electric ant biosecurity zone, please contact the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for clarification.
Update frequency is variable and will be reviewed in accordance with the National Electric Ant Eradication Program protocols for revising and establishing a biosecurity zone under the Biosecurity Act 2014.
