Provides a spatial representation of movement control areas within the electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02), implemented through the establishment of a lesser restrictions area within the electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02), enacted on 22 June 2018. Areas within the electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02) and not within the lesser restrictions area are areas within the restricted zone. This restricted zone release is valid from 12 May 2023.
The Biosecurity Regulation 2016 prescribes procedures that must be followed when moving electric ant carriers from a property within the restricted zone of the electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02). These procedures are outlined in easy to follow guidelines and are available at https://www.business.qld.gov.au/industries/farms-fishing-forestry/agriculture/land-management/health-pests-weeds-diseases/pests/electric-ants.
If you are unable to comply with these conditions then a biosecurity instrument permit must be obtained before moving the carrier from a property within the restricted zone, unless the electric ant carrier is taken to a waste facility that accepts electric ant carriers.

The electric ant restricted zone dataset is the spatial representation of movement control areas within the electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02), implemented through the establishment of a restricted zone within the electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02) first enacted on 22 June 2018. Areas of the restricted zone encompass known infested areas, where eradication activities are undertaken, and where electric ant movement controls apply.

The electric ant biosecurity zone dataset was first published on 1 July 2016 to coincide with the effective date for the Biosecurity Act 2014. The electric ant biosecurity zone was amended through legislation on 22 June 2018 to become the electric ant biosecurity zone (EA02). This version of the electric ant restricted zone was published on 12 May 2023. The electric ant restricted zone is aligned to the 'Land parcel boundaries - Queensland' dataset (DCDB), supplied under licence by the Queensland Department of Resources. It is recognised that the DCDB dataset is updated on a regular basis. In the event that a parcel boundary has been realigned, split or otherwise changed in the DCDB and it is unclear if a property is within the electric ant biosecurity zone, please contact the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for clarification.
Update frequency is variable and will be reviewed in accordance with the National Electric Ant Eradication Program protocols for revising and establishing a restricted zone under the Biosecurity Act 2014.
