<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>The fire ant biosecurity zones dataset is the spatial representation of the fire ant biosecurity zones in Queensland where restrictions apply to the movement of material that could spread fire ants. </SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN /></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN>The Biosecurity Regulation 2016 prescribes procedures that must be followed when moving or storing fire ant carriers from within the fire ant biosecurity zones. The fire ant biosecurity zones dataset was first published on 1 July 2016 to coincide with the effective date for the Biosecurity Act 2014.
The fire ant biosecurity zones are aligned to suburb and locality boundaries and include two zones: fire ant biosecurity zone 1 and fire ant biosecurity zone 2. The source of the suburb boundaries is the 'Locality boundaries - Queensland' dataset supplied by the Queensland Department of Natural Resources. Update frequency is variable and will be reviewed in accordance with the National Red Imported Fire Ant Eradication Program protocols for revising and establishing biosecurity zones under the Biosecurity Act 2014.
