<idAbs>The Statewide Landcover And Trees Study (SLATS) is a scientific monitoring program which monitors, maps and reports on woody vegetation change in Queensland. Since the 1990's and up to the 2017-18 reporting period, SLATS has been monitoring woody vegetation loss due to land clearing, applying a methodology which used Landsat satellite imagery. From 2018 onwards, woody vegetation clearing is mapped using Sentinel-2 imagery. From 2020 onwards, woody vegetation regrowth is mapped and included in this SLATS woody vegetation change product. This dataset shows woody vegetation clearing detected in the 2022-23 monitoring period (nominally August 2022 to August 2023). Woody vegetation regrowth which is not already incorporated into the Woody vegetation extent dataset, and is identifiable from Sentinel-2 imagery up to Aug 2023 is included. Please refer to the 'Additional Information' section below for further information, including attribute field codes.</idAbs>

<suppInfo>SLATS change polygons are attributed based on their Woody change status and replacement class. They are grouped into 3 broad categories - Clearing, Regrowth, and Correction, which can be queried using the "Woody_chg" field. The Correction class is used to make amendments to the Woody vegetation extent data set and transaction summary for reporting.
Attributes describing the SLATS landcover replacement class are identified and described in the fields "Descr" and "Class_desc" as follows:
Clearing (to Pasture, Crop, Settlement, Mine, Infrastructure, Timber Plantation, Partial clearing minor, Partial clearing major - pasture, Partial clearing major - forestry, Missed clearing in the previous era);
Regrowth (from Pasture, Crop, Forestry, Infrastructure, Mining or Settlement);
Correction (Incorrect clearing - Addition to woody extent, Incorrect non-woody vegetation - Addition to woody extent, Incorrect woody vegetation - Subtraction from woody extent).

<statement>Consistent methodology: The SLATS change mapping is subject to a quality control procedure for the majority of satellite scenes in the state where clearing activity occurs. Additional moderation and consistency checks are undertaken by a senior remote sensing scientist. Mapping at scene boundaries is edge-matched following a systematic mapping protocol.</statement>
</dataLineage>
<dataLineage>
<statement>Completeness Omission: Cloud cover in Sentinel-2 satellite images used for the SLATS clearing analysis may occlude some clearing events leading to omission of some events in the reporting period. Satellite image dates are manually selected to be as cloud free as possible to minimise these omissions. Clearing that was omitted due to cloud cover or for other reasons (e.g. insufficient evidence in the Sentinel-2 satellite imagery used) in the reporting period in which it occurred may be identified in the subsequent reporting period(s) where there is clear evidence of clearing activity. Where identified, the clearing is mapped and attributed as 'Missed clearing from previous era' in the subsequent SLATS mapping period(s).</statement>

<statement>Positional Accuracy: All the data described here has been generated from Level 1C Sentinel-2 image products routinely downloaded from the Australasian Regional Copernicus Data Hub (http://www.copernicus.gov.au/). Data are pre-processed by the Queensland Government’s Remote Sensing Centre to generate a surface reflectance product following Flood, et al. (2013) and Flood (2017). Imagery has a spatial resolution of 10m and a positional accuracy of 5m. References: Flood, N., Danaher, T., Gill, T. and Gillingham, S. 2013. <dataLineage>
<statement>This dataset is GDA2020 compatible. The source data, and therefore the captured features are georeferenced as GDA94 (horizontal only). The horizontal accuracy of the geo-referencing and/or data collection method for this example is greater than the datum offset between GDA94 and GDA2020 (1.8 metres). The resulting dataset has been nominated as a low-accuracy GDA2020 dataset. As this data set has not been directly measured in GDA2020, nor transformed to GDA2020 the resulting data is ‘GDA2020 compatible’, not Compliant.
