<idPurp>Queensland Fish Habitat Area Instream Structure Inventory Data - EXTRACT. Data was collected during projects undertaken by Fisheries Queensland, DEEDI, and funded by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (SEWPaC) under the Queensland Wetlands Program (the Program). Projects implemented a framework, including fish habitat guidelines and a decision support system, developed by Fisheries Queensland in the pilot project (2008/09). Field assessment data was collected using the FishBarriers Version Queensland menu system (an ESRI ArcPad application) uploaded to a Personal Digital Assistant. Structures were prioritised using a matrix to identify problem structures impacting on fish habitats (Matrix quarter 1). The dataset includes instream structures in estuarine and marine areas of 10 of the 70 declared Fish Habitat Areas (FHAs) (Trinity Inlet, Hinchinbrook, Bowling Green Bay, Cleveland Bay (part of), Corio Bay, Fraser Island, Susan River, Maaroom, Kauri Creek and Tin Can Inlet) and 3 Ramsar wetland sites (Bowling Green Bay, Shoalwater and Corio Bays Area and Great Sandy Strait) (DSIN: 10558). Data attributes have been selected from the original dataset for the purposes of public distribution and for upload to the Program's Wetlands Information Capture (WIC) system. Data will inform future management of Ramsar sites and declared FHAs. Priority structures and recommended management response actions for Bowling Green Bay and Corio Bay, and the Great Sandy Strait, are outlined in a Response Action Plan (RAP). Projects satisfy completion of years 1 (2008), 2 (2009/10) and 3 (2011) of a 5 year Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) structure inventory program (previously the responsibility of Fisheries Queensland), part of the declared Fish Habitat Area strategy 2009-14. Project reports and RAPs are available on WetlandInfo and project data can be accessed via the Queensland Spatial Catalogue. Reference to attributes as follows: DATE - date of data collection. ROAD_TYPE - sealed or unsealed. ROAD_NAME - the name of the road that crosses the watercourse, or the road that is closest in proximity to the structure being assessed. NEAR_TOWN - the town in closest proximity to the structure being assessed. CONSTRUCT - Concrete, cemented rock, debris (artificial), debris (natural), gravel, log, metal/steel, other, polystyrene, rock, rubble, timber. RIP_HBTCDN - Pristine, low disturbance, moderate disturbance, high disturbance or very high disturbance. CATCHMENT - The overarching catchment that the structure is located within rather than the subcatchment. LGA - local government area that the structure is located within. BARRIER_TY - the type of barrier structure: BC = bed control, FL = floodgate, GS = gauging station, LB = levee bank/bund, NA = natural, OB = other barrier, RX = road crossing, WD = weir/dam. STRUCT ID - An alphanumeric identifier of the structure, incorporating 4-letter abbreviated catchment name, 3-digit number and abbreviated structure type (refer to BARRIER_TY and NONBARRIER). Structure type abbreviations: BR-boat ramp, BW-boardwalk, CA-canal, DM-dumped material, DR-drain intake/outlet, DV-derelict vessel, GR-Groyne, JE-jetty, MO-mooring, ON-other non-barrier, PI-pipe intake/outlet, PF-pontoon floating, PX-pontoon fixed, RE- revetment, SW-slipway, VD--viewing deck, WH-wharf, WW-walkway, FL-floodgate, LB-levee bank/bund, NA-natural, OB-other barrier, SX-stream crossing, WD-weir/dam. ROADXING - stream crossing type: box culvert, bridge, causeway, ford, pipe culvert. WEIR - weir type: adjustable release, fixed crest. FLODDGATE - floodgate type: auto tidal, hinged flap, other, sluice, winch. LONGITUDE - longitude the mid-point of the structure stored as decimal degrees. LATITUDE - latitude of the mid-point of the structure stored as decimal degrees. WW NAME - waterway name. LENGTH - estimated length of the structure in metres. TOPO MAP - topographic map code. ASS SOIL - indicates if sulfuric acid is disturbed, present in area or unknown. DESK_ASSOR - assessor making desktop edits. FEAT_MOVED - indicates if the point for a structure has moved since original recording. DATE_MOVED -the date a new point for an existing structure is recorded. IMAGE - reference to attached photos. FHA_NAME - the name of the declared Fish Habitat Area within which a structure is located. DIST_AREA (pre-2011) - the estimated disturbance area of a structure, including the footprint and any area outside the footprint. DIST_AREA (post-2011) - the estimated disturbance area of the structure outside the footprint. IMP_STRU - the estimated footprint of the structure. SYS TYPE - the type of wetland in which the survey is being performed. Wetlands are classified based on the methodology used in the EPA's wetland mapping and classification. It incorporates features such as hydrology, salinity and area. NONBARRIER - the type of non-barrier structure: BR = boat ramp, BW = boardwalk, CA = canal, DM = dumped material, DR = drain intake/outlet, DV = derelict vessel, GR = groyne, HO = house/dwelling, JE = jetty, MO = mooring, ON = other non-barrier, PI = pipe intake/outlet, PF = pontoon floating, PX = pontoon fixed, RE = revetment, SW = slipway, VD = viewing deck, WH = wharf, WW = walkway. VEG TYPE - dominant vegetation family/group/genus visible in the vicinity of the structure. DOM VEG - dominant vegetation growth form visible in the vicinity of the structure. THT EROS - indicates erosion observed at the site. THT SLUMP - bank slumping observed at the site. THT DNFLORA - dead native flora observed at the site. THT DUMPMA - dumped material observed at the site. THT OTHER - any other threats observed at the site. DOM_SUBSTR - Indicate the dominant substratum at a site. Select from fines (256 mm), bedrock/reef, unknown. LOC DERIV - Code indicating how site location details were determined (i.e. GPS type, map type, etc). LOC DATUM - the datum (or geographic referencing system) in which the original data was recorded. FLOW TIDE - A broad categorisation of hydrology at the site or subsite. In tidally influenced wetlands (potentially all wetland types), this describes the current state of the tide. In non-tidally influenced wetlands (potentially all wetland types other than estuarine and marine) this describes the degree of flow. TIME - the start time of data collection. LOC PREC - the precision of location coordinates in metres. HYDRO_MOD - The type of hydrological modifier observed. "Hydrological modifiers" describe the hydrological disturbance the wetland is subject to (developed by DERM to classify and map Queensland wetlands). WEEDS - occurrence of weed of national significance (cabomba, hymenachne, lantana, parthenium, rubber vine, water hyacinth, water lettuce). NOX_FISH - noxious fish species observed at the site of the structure (e.g. carp, chinese weatherloach, gambusia/mosquitofish, tilapia). M_PESTS - marine pest species observed at the site of the structure. HAB_EPIB - indicates whether the structure is providing habitat for epibiota. WEATHER - code indicating the current weather conditions, particularly in relation to precipitation. ORG_TN - the ordinary name of the organisation with which contact should be made to obtain more detailed information about the project. If a private individual collects data they should enter their organisation as 'individual'. THT_DRED - evidence of dredging observed at the site. THT_FILL - filling of tidal land observed at the site. THT_MAINT - indicates if maintenance works require additional disturbance. THT_ACCDS - indicates accretion downstream of the structure. THT_ACCUS - indicates accretion upstream of the structure. THT_INUND - the structure is causing an altered inundation extent. THT_MPGROW - marine plant growth is being compromised. THT_SCOUR - structure is causing scouring of the bed or banks. THT_SILT - structure is causing siltation. PROJ_NAME - This is the ordinary name of the project the data is being collected for. MATRIX - the quarter of the prioritisation matrix that the structure falls within. Quarter 1 structures = high priority. HAB_CL - the class of fish habitat in the vicinity of the structure as identified by specific habitat features. STRUC_TYP - the type of structure. <suppInfo>Data captured in the field using a TDS NOMAD 800LC with inbuilt GPS (SirF III), camera and SD card. Stated positional accuracy of around 7-10m. Initial field accuracy test indicated 2-5m accuracy in some areas. Most data collected in the field and verified for consistency in the office. Common data e.g. declared Fish Habitat Area were added in the office. Data collected via marine craft, land based and aerial observations and from within dense mangrove creek areas to that of open foreshore. Data collection is taking place over consistent periods of 4-5 days, however there may be some extended periods between data capture. Field capture performed by one officer (Mary Chang nee Lawrence) with assistance from one or two others. Field data was captured using a map grid layout based on 1:10000 &amp; 1:5000 map sheets format. Approx 4' of Lat/Long or 4 square nautical miles. Status records indicate the following approximate coverage for each project area (extends outside Ramsar &amp; FHA): Trinity Inlet (89%), Hinchinbrook (61%), Bowling Green Bay (76%), Corio Bay (70%), Great Sandy Strait (100%). Inventories of the Bowling Green Bay, Corio Bay and the Great Sandy Strait Ramsar sites and all declared FHAs are complete.</suppInfo>
