<suppInfo>The original source data that this data was compiled from was captured using Airborne Laser Scanning (LiDAR).
This data is a subset of the 25 centimetre contour datasets generated from LiDAR. Attributes within this data describe the source and reliability of the original 25 centimetre contour datasets. LiDAR captured data is available from Coolangatta to Cooktown along the eastern seaboard and to varying distances inland as a solid block of data. LiDAR captured data is also available over most inland towns. Features within this dataset have been captured using: - LiDAR
Feature Types: INTERMEDIATE CONTOUR – An imaginary line on the ground joining points of equal elevation with a 1 metre regular spacing above the Australian Height Datum. Every fifth Basic Contour, is classified as a Feature Type “Major Contour”
INDEX CONTOUR – An imaginary line representing every fifth “Basic Contour”. Major contours are evenly divisible by 5
Attributes: FEATURE_TYPE (Feature Type) - Unique feature type that identifies the type of feature. (options: Basic Contour, Major Contour)
ATTRIBUTE_SOURCE (Attribute Source) - The source LiDAR capture project used to define what the feature is e.g., basic contour
ATTRIBUTE_DATE (Attribute Date) - Date of the source LiDAR capture project used for attributing the feature.
FEATURE_SOURCE (Feature Source) - The source LiDAR capture project that the spatial location of the feature was obtained from.
FEATURE_DATE (Feature Date) - Date of the source LiDAR capture project that the location of the feature was obtained from.
ELEVATION_M (Elevation (m)) - The elevation of the feature measured in metres in relation to the Australian Height Datum. ELEAVTION_SOURCE (Elevation Source) - The source LiDAR capture project that the elevation of the feature was obtained from
ELEVATION_DATE (Elevation Date) - Date of the source LiDAR capture project that the elevation of the feature was obtained from.
ELEVATION_ACCURACY_M (Elevation Accuracy (+/-m)) - The vertical positional accuracy of the contour measured in metres (plus or minus e.g., +/- 0.3m)
PFI (PFI) - A Persistent Feature Identifier (PFI) is generated once for each feature at the point of creation. The value of the PFI will stay with the feature through all changes to the feature (both spatial and non-spatial) until the feature is retired.
UFI (UFI) - A Unique Feature Identifier (UFI) is generated once for each new feature at the point of creation (at this point the PFI and UFI will be the same). The value of the UFI will stay with the feature through all changes to the feature (both spatial and non-spatial) unless the feature is split into multiple other parts. If the feature is split, the separate parts will retain the original PFI but new UFI’s will be generated for the split parts.
CREATED_DATE (Created Date) - The date the feature was originally captured and first loaded to the database
LAST_EDITED_DATE (Last Edited Date) - Date of the last editing or revision to the feature
UPPER_SCALE (Upper Scale) - The upper scale for which the feature should be considered suitable TEXT_NOTE (Text Note) - For mapping purposes. Additional annotation that can be shown on a map

<dataLineage>
<statement>The original source data was captured by project using Airborne Laser Scanning from a fixed wing aircraft with the acquisition over tidal areas being undertaken within +/- 2 hours of low tide. The capture of airborne LiDAR was supported by the establishment of GPS base stations with aerial control maintained via the LiDAR systems IMU and the GPS base stations.
Laser strikes have been classified into ground and non-ground based upon algorithms tailored for major terrain - vegetation combinations existing in the project area. The definition of the ground may be less accurate in isolated pockets of dense vegetation and certain types of vegetation such as sugar cane.
The ground filtered dataset is then visually checked by an operator, and incorrectly classified data is corrected or the ground filtering algorithm is adjusted and then visually checked. For the verification of the ground classifications, intensity imagery may be used as a backdrop image. Any LiDAR return, not classified as ground, but higher than ground, & gt;30cm above ground, is classified as non-ground return.
From this ground dataset, contours with a 25 centimetre interval in height are generated. Data is stored in MGA coordinates in GDA94 in either 1 km or 2 km tiles depending on the project specifications with heights being recorded in AHD71. The tile number is either the coordinate of the North West or South West corner of the tile.
This dataset was compiled by extracting out the 1 metre contour from the exiting 25 centimetre contour datasets. As the original data is stored in either 1 km or 2 km tiles and in project areas, the data has been merged into continuous line strings within a project and location. The data is also converted to latitude and longitude in GDA94.
To improve performance, a Simplify tool was run over entire dataset using ArcDesktop Simplify Line Tool. Using settings of POINTS REMOVED (Douglas-Peucker method) with 0.25m significance tolerance. All features equal or less than a length of 0.0001dd were removed from the dataset. All features under 10m in ELEVATION and equal or less than 0.0003dd were also removed. Qld LiDAR 25cm Contours Whitsunday Prj Extra - This area was not originally covered due to re-classification of Whitsunday_2009_Prj. To provide DEM and Contours, the Whitsunday_2009_Prj_Extra were reclassified into ground points using ArcGIS, then contours were generated at 1 metre intervals.
There is a 10 metre gap either side of the new 1 metre generated contours (Whitsunday_Prj_Extra) and the existing 1 metre contours of Whitsunday_Rgn and Whitsunday_Prj. These contours were generated from Unclassified Raw LAS data and therefore have lower Planmetric and Elevation Accuracy as stated in respective fields. Qld LiDAR 25cm Contours Townsville Prj Extra
This area was not originally covered due to re-classification of Townsville_2009_Prj. The XY Coordinate System of the las dataset is set to GDA 1994 MGA Zone 55 and height datum is set to AHD. Statistics of each las file is calculated using las dataset properties. Using ArcGIS “Make LAS Dataset Layer” tool las dataset is filtered by choosing class code 2 which represents bare earth ground points only. The output from this process is used to create a GeoTiff raster using “Las Dataset to Raster” tool which is then filtered using “Filter tool” where filter type is set to Low. To generate 1m contours “Contour (3D Analyst)” tool was used.
There is a 10 metre gap either side of the new 1 metre generated contours (Townsville_Prj_Extra) and the existing 1 metre contours of Townsville_Prj and Townsville_Ctl. These contours were generated from Unclassified Raw LAS data and therefore have lower Planimetric and Elevation Accuracy as stated in respective fields. Qld_LiDAR_1m_DEM_Nulla_Basalt_Province_Prj/Qld_LiDAR_25cm_Contours_Bundaberg_Rgn/Qld_LiDAR_25cm_Contours_CassowaryCoast_Prj
Lidar tiles were supplied. Using ArcGIS Pro 2.4, these tiles were added to Mosaic dataset and overviews were generated. A low pass filter was applied to this mosaic dataset by utilising the Filter tool in Spatial Analysis toolbox. NoData was ignored in calculations. 1m Contours were generated using Contour tool in 3D Analyst Toolbox. All optional features were left at default. Contours were then cleaned by deleting all features with a shape length equal or less than 0.0001 were removed using select by attributes. Contours were then simplified using ArcGIS Desktop 10.4 Simplify Line tool. Using settings of POINTS REMOVED (Douglas-Peucker method) with 0.25m significance tolerance. These areas were then inserted into the Contours 1m Dataset. Contours are NOT edge matched to existing data when new projects are inserted. This dataset is GDA2020 Compliant. The source data, and therefore the captured features, were captured as GDA94 (horizontal only). This data has been projected to GDA2020 by using ArcGIS Pro geoprocessing tool Project geoprocessing. Using geographic transformation parameters ‘GDA94 to GDA2020 NTv2 3 Conformal’.
