The waste levy zone is defined as 39 local government areas as listed in the Queensland Waste Reduction and Recycling (Waste Levy) Amendment Regulation 2019. In 2023 11 LGAs were labelled Metro Zones while 28 LGAs were labelled Regional Zones. The waste levy zone spatial dataset is derived from the Local government area boundaries - Queensland spatial layer sourced from the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing, and Regional and Rural Development (DNRMMRRD).
